Early Successes

by Peter C. Conrad

The years leading to 1994 and fire I had a promising writing career, short stories had been broadcast on CBC radio, I had completed my Master of Arts degree in Canadian History with my thesis accepted for publication in 1989 by Western Producer Prairie Books entitled Training for Victory: the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan in the West. I published another history In the Winning Lane in 1990. My articles were appearing in magazines in western Canada. Comments from literary magazine editors were positive and encouraging.

My story, “Two Streams” was produced for CBC radio in 1986.

My short story, “Rain” was published by The Prairie Journal in 2012 and can be accessed at http://www.prairiejournal.org/stories.html . My story “Rain” was nominated for the 2012 Writers Guild of Alberta Howard O’Hagan Award for short story.

The story “An Evaluation” is autobiographic as the events in the piece happened to me as narrated.
